Q: Will this switch operate as an unmanaged switch by default?we dont really have any need for configuring it, it will connect to another switch which will hand out dhcp to connected devices. so really acting as a dummy switch, will it require any config?

A: Yes, the switch ports belong to vlan 1 by default, and no configuration is required, just like unmanaged. It’s just that this switch vlan 1 has an IP address of 192.168.1.1. When you use it, please note that there can be no devices with the same IP address in the network, which will cause IP address conflicts.

A: To configure the rate limit for a port, run this command: switchport rate-limit {band | bandwidth percent} { ingress|egress}; To return to the default setting, use the no form of this command: no switchport rate-limit{ ingress|egress}. More details please refer to page 136 of this document:
